Myerstown Block Party 2019
It was one of the most popular events of Myerstown’s year-long 250th Anniversary Celebration in 2018.
“You asked for it and it’s back”, Co-chairs Vince Podolski and Victoria Layser announced in a joint statement, “The community will enthusiastically return to West Main Avenue in Myerstown on Saturday, September 28th, from 10 am to 8 pm. It was a wonderful event last year, and we expect it to be even more fun for the family this time”.
Like food? There will be a variety of vendors including Wich Way Sandwiches, Rock N Bounce Ice Cream Truck, Kunzler Bologna, Seltzers fried bologna sandwiches, plus funnel cakes, apple dumplings, and Kettle corn. Nooners Wood Fire Pizza will serve shaved ice. Every palate will be satisfied at the Block Party.
Chili anyone? The highly popular Chili Cookoff will return, under the guidance of project chair Anna Gettler. She anticipates another popular event. “We had seven different contestants in the 2018 event, judged by three chili-loving judges. We sell vote tickets and donate proceeds to the Sharing cupboard of Myerstown. Everybody wins!”
The Car Cruise will be back. Myerstown Borough Council member Dana Reich and husband Doug take advantage of their love of car shows into a corresponding Block Party Many vintage-cars are expected to line the street along West Main Avenue for the public to enjoy. “The better the weather, the better the turnout”, Dana says, “The car owners are very protective of their prized vehicles”.
But wait. There’s more. Craft vendors, a Beer Garden, Food Trucks, and of course musical entertainment. Catch Bryan Stevenson and Red Beard Soul from 12 Noon to 3 pm. Then come back to enjoy The Rockers from 5 pm to 8 pm.
“Our theme is that Myerstown is “Built on Community”.
