Volunteer

There are many opportunities for residents or businesses to volunteer their time to the Myerstown Community.  Some of the great organizations that use volunteers are listed on our Volunteer Organizations Web Page. 

From time to time, there are opportunities to volunteer directly with the Borough.  The Borough allows and encourages service to the Borough by individual volunteers or organizations in a manner that benefits the Borough and protects the safety and welfare of all concerned.  The Borough places great importance on creating a secure environment for youth that are served by Borough volunteers, and any youth volunteers serving the Borough.  To maintain this secure environment, the Borough has policies and procedures that must be adhered to by all volunteers.

To serve as a registered volunteer for the Borough of Myerstown, you are required to do the following:

  1. Review the Borough's "Volunteer Policy."  This policy can be found on the Borough's "Forms and Applications" page.  Link below.
  2. Complete, sign, and return the "Myerstown Borough Volunteer Application and Waiver Form" to the Borough Office.  This form can be found on the Borough's "Forms and Applications" page.  Link below.
  3. Review the "Borough of Myerstown Sexual Abuse and Misconduct Prevention Policy" and sign the acknowledgment form, and return to the Borough Office.  This form can be found on the Borough's "Forms and Applications" page.  Link below.
If the volunteer will be responsible for the welfare of a child or will have direct contact with a child, you are required to do the following, in addition to the above requirements:  

  1. Submit a copy of the applicant's Child Protective Services Law Clearances, which include the following:
    1. PA State Police Criminal History Check
    2. PA Department of Human Services Child Abuse History Clearance
    3. Fingerprint-based FBI Criminal Backround Clearance -OR- PA Disclosure Statement
  2. Depending upon the activity, the applicant may also be required to submit to a driving record check, a reference check, a direct background investigation, and/or criminal investigations.
